Revolutionising grass & sand stability

The Loksand Rootzone System has revolutionised grass and sand stabilisation for landscape architects across the globe. Its advanced fibre technology provides a grass surface that is stable & free-draining, with excellent strength enabling it to be used for a variety of applications that are frequently trafficked.

Loksand is great when used around bunker sides to reduce damage in high traffic areas as well as from water damage. Whether you are specifying a grass covered car park, access road or public area the Loksand system will provide a fully grassed solution that will remain durable and resistant to wear no matter how often it is used.

The Loksand Root Zone System…

The Loksand Rootzone system is a traditional sand and sand based substrate blended with polypropylene fibres. During the mixing process the crimped polypropylene fibres are entwined with the sand increasing the sand’s over-all strength and resistance.

The Loksand Rootzone system is applied above a Type 1 sub base layer then overlaid with turf to the specification of the project. As the turf becomes established the roots interlock with the Loksand Rootzone, further increasing stability and its cohesive strength.

Loksand Rootzone provides:

A durable & stable natural grass surface

Free-draining

High, load-bearing capacity

Eliminates tracking on new grass

Easily transportable

Simple to install

Long life-span* with appropriate maintenance

Excellent resistance to highly trafficked areas

What is Loksand Rootzone

Revolutionising grass and sand stability

Prior to application a number of considerations must be made to evaluate the quantity and grade of Loksand Root Zone required. For all projects the subgrade strength must be evaluated. Table A below, illustrates the correlation between CBR value and sand type based on the characteristics of subgrades. The CBR table lists a variety of sub-grades in their equilibrium moisture condition for high and low levels of the water table. Once the CBR percentage has been evaluated Table B will determine the required layer thickness of Loksand
